译文度是：东晋时期，司马昱邀请王坦之和范启前去议事，范启年龄大而官位小，王坦之年龄小回而官位大。去的路上，他们两人互相谦让让对方走前头。王坦之走在范启前开玩笑说“簸呀扬呀，答谷糠和秕子在前面。”范启反唇相讥：“淘啊汰啊，沙子和石头在后面。”
